2025 Winning Recipient Jessica Engel

Background:
I grew up in Springville, NY, exhibiting livestock at the Erie County Fair through 4-H and FFA. I attended Black Hawk College for two years and received an Associates of Science. I then transferred to Oklahoma State University where I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Animal Science.

Currently:
I am a first-year veterinary student at Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine with a strong interest in large animal medicine, particularly food animals. I would like to utilize my DVM in rural agriculture, working alongside producers of all large animal species and making an impact on animal health and production. With a background in livestock, I’m passionate about promoting sustainable agriculture and strengthening the connection between veterinary medicine and rural communities. I’m eager to gain hands-on experience both in school and in clinical settings while building the foundation for a career serving livestock producers and advancing large animal veterinary care.
